The Lucy Fernandez Foundation, established in honor and loving memory of Luciana Cristina Fernandez, will provide scholarship and experiential learning opportunities for students at Our Lady of Lourdes Academy, her beloved school, to share in what generations of young women like Lucy were fortunate to experience- empowerment and success through the values founded in Tradition, Sisterhood, Spirituality, and Service as well as community-enhancing projects that support unity, connection, and growth and bring people together.
“With Mary in all things,” the Lucy Fernandez Foundation will continue Lucy’s legacy of Faith, Kindness, Hope, and Love.
Our Lady of Lourdes
Founded in 1963, Our Lady of Lourdes Academy is an all-girl, archdiocesan high school in South Miami-Dade that seeks “to educate young women to face the future, strengthened by their faith, prepared and confident in their abilities to achieve their goals and committed to their Catholic and American heritages.”
True to the school’s mission, Our Lady of Lourdes Academy emphasizes the development of life-long learners and encourages students to be reflective young women who ask questions and relish the search for their answers.
Thus, dedicated to each student's growth, development, and faith formation, Our Lady of Lourdes Academy engages students in the learning process through intellectual discovery in a spiritual, creative, contemporary, and collaborative environment. The ultimate goal is the development of strong, caring, and well-balanced Catholic women.
With the help of her teachers, staff, and classmates, Lucy thrived at OLLA, blossomed in her faith formation, and built a kinship that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her and those who will hear her story.

BLUE Missions
Lucy’s passion for helping others inspired her to take part in the BLUE Missions trip in 2021 along with her fellow classmates at Our Lady of Lourdes.
BLUE Missions provides sustainable access to clean water and sanitation while cultivating a generation of global citizens through reflection, education and service-driven travel. As part of the scholarship, the awardee would have the same opportunity Lucy had to make a difference in the lives of an entire community.

Salamanca, España
Lucy’s love for travel, making new friends, and curiosity for learning about different cultures drove her to take advantage of all the opportunities her faith community and school had to offer. Joined by girls from various high schools across the city, her trip to the Universidad de Salamanca in Spain was one of her most impactful experiences while attending Our Lady of Lourdes Academy.
Alfonso IX of León wanted to have higher studies in his kingdom, and for this reason, he created the 'scholas Salamanticae' in 1218. The Universidad de Salamanca celebrates over 800 years of uninterrupted history, creating, promoting, and disseminating knowledge. Along with Paris, Oxford, and Bologna, it became one of the first European universities and today is the only Spanish one that has maintained its activity through the centuries.

Once accepted to OLLA, complete financial aid assessment through OLLA FACTS program.
Step 3
